Mechanical Shop Manager

Job Description:

POSITION PROFILE

This position is responsible for safely and efficiently managing our Fort Worth Texas Shop. The primary functions are communicating and coordinating with customers to ensure the high level of fleet readiness and availability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

· Communicates and coordinates with Operations to ensure adequate staffing and resources to maintain the highest level of fleet readiness and quality in order to meet customer equipment needs

· Prioritizes schedules, repairs and workloads of shop personnel

· Coordinates all other elements of equipment repairs

o To include: Parts, Third Party Services, and Freight

· Reviews and authorizes major repairs and shop expenditures

· Approves shop personnel timecards and payroll

· Actively involved with recruiting, retention, mentoring and training of all levels of shop personnel

o To include: regular/consistent counseling, appraisals, and wage reviews

· Acts as a key liaison with key vendors and third party suppliers

· Primary person of responsibility for shop and personnel safety and environmental performance

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A candidate must possess the skills in each of the following areas in order to be considered for the position.

Education/Certification:

· Must be at least 21 years old and in good physical condition

· Must pass a pre-employment drug test, Functional Capacity Test and background check

Experience:

· Prior supervisory experience

· Intermediate level computer experience required

· Class A CDL preferred

Skills and Competencies:

· Must have expert level mechanical aptitude

· Expert level troubleshooting and diagnostic skills

· Expert level knowledge of equipment/truck/trailer design and functionality

· Expert level knowledge of electrical, air and hydraulic systems
